June & July are true rod-bending times of year! Sailfish. Dorado. Yellowfin Tuna. Marlin. The Summer is superb for family fishing, a father son/trip or a corporate excursion. The calm Guatemalan waters offer a wonderful time to make a visit and way for you to save a few bucks along the way.

April Fishing Report

The Pickett Group fishing 3 days on Sirena raised 71 sailfish, had 62 bites and released 41. They also raised 1 marlin.

The Aguire Group on Maverick in 1 day raised 15 sailfish, had 12 bites and released 6. They also caught 2 dorado.

The Taino Group from Nicaragua fishing 2 days on Sirena raised 30 sailfish, had 26 bites, released 14 conventional and 1 on fly.

The Miara Group from France fishing 5 days on Gypsy caught just about everything. They raised 48 sailfish, had 43 bites and released 30. They raised 4 marlin, had 1 bite and released 1. The caught 25 bonito on FLY. And 6 mackerel.

The Kelly Group fishing 1 day on Maverick raised 9 sailfish, had 7 bites and released 6. They also raised 1 marlin.

The Knellinger Group fishing 3 days on Sirena raised 44 sailfish, had 41 bites and released 27. They also raised 1 marlin.

The Barillas Group on Aguardiente raised 6 sailfish, had 3 bites and released 3.

The Hwang Group on Danmark raised 5 sailfish, had 5 bites and released 5.

The Boon Group arrived for the 2nd year in a row. Fishing on Gypsy the raised 22 sailfish, had 17 bites and released 10.

The Flores Group raised 15 sailfish, had 13 bites and released 6.

The HG Group raised 5 sailfish, had 3 bites and released 3. They also raised and released 1 Blue marlin.

The Power Group raised 6 sailfish, had 4 bites and released 3. They also raised 2 marlin, hooked 1 500 lb. Blue, fought it for 1.5 hours and later lost it.

 

 

March Fishing Report

The Fairclough Group fished 4 days on Maverick. They raised 155 sailfish, had 139 bites and released 74.

The Prasieus Group fished 5 days on Chechos. They raised 89 sailfish, had 67 bites, released 43 conventional and 1 on fly. They also raised 4 marlin and caught 3 dorado.

The IGFA fly fished for 1 day. Fishing on Sirena they raised 22 sailfish, had 5 bites and released 2 on FLY.

The IGFA fished 1 day in our local tournament. Fishing on Chechos they raised 56 sailfish, had 46 bites and released 25. They also raised 2 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1 striped.

The Paddock Group fished 2 days on Sirena and Maverick. They raised 52 sailfish, had 45 bites and released 30.

The Courson group arrived for the 12th time. Fishing on Chechos for 4 days they raised 47 sailfish, had 38 bites and released 33. They also raised 2 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1 Blue.

The Biggs Group fishing on Maverick for 3 days raised 58 sailfish, had 48 bites and released 27. They also raised 1 Marlin, had 1 bite and released 1 Blue. They also caught 10 dorado.

The Roth Group arrived for the 2nd time. Fishing 3 days on Danmark raised 24 sailfish, had 12 bites and released 7 on FLY. They also caught 1 yellowfin tuna on FLY.

The Mitchell Group fishing 3 days on Aguardiente raised 35 sailfish, had 23 bites, released 13 conventional, 1 on fly, 2 yellowfin and 1 dorado.

The Parker Group returned for the 2nd time. Fishing 3 days on Maverick and Sirena they raised 151 sailfish, had 103 bites, released 37 conventional and 20 on FLY. They also caught 3 dorado and 1 Roosterfish.

The Silvernail Group returned for the 5th time. Fishing on Chechos for 3 days they raised 86 sailfish, had 72 bites, released 41 conventional and 7 on FLY.

The Miller Group returned for the 6th time. Fishing on Sirena for 3 days they raised 16 sailfish, had 23 bites and released 15.

The Werner Group fishing 1 day on Aguardiente raised 12 sailfish, had 11 bites and released 6.

The Farrell Group returned for the 4th time. Fishing on Chechos and Maverick for 3 days they raised 55 sailfish, had 42 bites and released 24. They also raised 2 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1.

The Ambassador to Colombia is a frequent guest. Fishing on Danmark his group raised 15 sailfish, had 12 bites and released 8 in 1 day.

The Buckley Group returned for the 10th time. Fishing on Maverick for 3 days they raised 45 sailfish, had 37 bites and released 21. They also caught 2 dorado and 1 yellowfin.

The Musser Group returned for the 2nd time. Fishing on Aguardiente for 3 days they raised 43 sailfish, had 33 bites and released 21. They also raised 2 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1.

The Kupsak Group fishing 1 day on Stratgos raised 9 sailfish, had 7 bites and released 5. They also raised 3 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1 Blue.

The Wagner Group returned for the 4th time. Fishing on Maverick for 3 days they raised 88 sailfish, had 72 bites and released 54.

The Puczak Group fishing 1 day on Maverick raised 15 sailfish, had 12 bites and released 8.

The Sanchez Group returned for the 2nd time. Fishing on Chechos for 3 days they raised 69 sailfish, had 60 bites and released 33.

February Fishing Report

We have the guys from HUK down at Pacific Fins right now filming their TV Show  “Money Fish.”

In 3 days fishing on Chechos they raised 106 sailfish, had 98 bites and released 64

The Martin Group returned for the 9th year in a row. Fishing 2 days on Maverick they raised 34 sailfish, had 25 bites and released 14.

The Morris Group returned for the 2nd time. Fishing on Maverick & La Joya for 2 days they raised 106 sailfish, had 82 bites and released 53.

The Dueck Group returned for the 3rd time. Fishing on Danmark, Piragua and Maverick for 2 days they raised 117 sailfish, had 96 bites and released 69.

The Hamston Group fished 1 day on Maverick and raised 20 sailfish, had 14 bites and released 12.

The Kleer Group fishing 3 days on Stratgos raised 32 sailfish, had 24 bites and released 12. They also caught 5 mackerel, 8 jacks and 1 roosterfish.

The Cope Group fishing 4 days on Aguardiente raised 105 sailfish, had 57 bites, released 24 conventional and 5 on fly. They also caught 3 jacks on fly and 3 conventional.

The Strickler Group fishing 4 days on Maverick raised 119 sailfish, had 59 bites, released 28 conventional and 5 on Fly. They also raised 1 marlin and caught 3 dorado.

The Kost Group returned for the 2nd time. Fishing 3 days on Maverick and Aguardiente and 2 days on La Joya they raised 142 sailfish, had 82 bites, released 36 conventional and 5 on Fly. They also raised 4 marlin, had 3 bites and released 2. They also caught 6 dorado.

The Portilla Group arrived for the 2nd year in a row, fished 2 days on Sirena and Chechos, raised 64 sailfish, had 44 bites, released 30 conventional and 1 on Fly. They also raised 2 marlin, had 1 bite and released 1 500 lb. Blue. Also 3 dorado.

The Sengezer Group returned for the 3rd time, fished on Danmark for 3 days, raised 44 sailfish, had 35 bites and released 23.

The Mena Group fishing on Chechos for 1 day raised 16 sailfish, had 13 bites and released 11.

The Jones Group returned for the 4th year in a row, fished 2 days on Allure and Danmark, raised 31 sailfish, had 23 bites and released 14.

The Perez Group returned for the 8th year in a row, fished 3 days on Maverick, raised 15 sailfish, had 11 bites and released 6. They also raised 4 marlin, had 3 bites and released 1 Blue.

The Ramirez Group returned for the 8th year in a row, fished 3 days on Sirena, raised 24 sailfish, had 19 bites and released 8. They also raised 2 Striped marlin, had 2 bites and released 2.

The Mott Group returned for the 2nd time, fished 1 day on Sirena, raised 13 sailfish, had 8 bites and released 4. They also raised and released 1 Striped marlin.

The Areano Group in a 1/2 day raised 4 sailfish, had 2 bites and released 2.

The Penar Group of 24 in 3 days fishing (still have one day left) have raised 398 sailfish, had 258 bites and released 159. They have also raised 36 marlin, had 33 bites, released 22 Striped marlin and 3 Blue marlin!! Fishing on Chechos, Sirena, Maverick, Danmark, Knotwork and Tranquility.

Maverick fishing 1 day in the local tournament raised 34 sailfish, had 26 bites and released 14. They also raised 3 marlin, had 2 bites and released 2 stripeys.

The Richards Group on Chechos in 2 days fishing raised 26 sailfish, had 15 bites and released 11.

The Botron Group on Maverick in 1 day raised 7 sailfish, had 4 bites and released 2. They also raised 3 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1 stripey.

January Fishing Report

The White Group fishing on Maverick for 3 days raised had 297 sailfish raises, 236 bites and 161 releases.

The Daniels Group fishing 1 day on Chechos had  5 sailfish raises, 5 bites, 5 releases. 3 Blue marlin raises, 2 bites and 2 releases.

The Smith Group  FLY Fishing 4 days on Maverick had 95 sailfish raises, 39 bites and 18 releases on Fly.

The Payne Group fishing 1 day on Chechos had 24 sailfish raises, 20 bites and 15 releases.

The Ralda Group in 3 days fishing on Gypsy had  50 sailfish raises, 30 bites and 22 releases. They also raised 1 marlin.

The Lammens Group fishing 1 day on Chechos had 11 sailfish raises, 10 bites and 6 releases. 2 marlin raises, 1 bite and 1 release. They also caught 3 dorado.

The Clark Group FLY fishing 2 days on Maverick had 33 sailfish raises, 9 bites and 7 releases on Fly.

The McBrayer Group in 3 days fishing on Gypsy had 81 sailfish raises, 75 bites and 51 releases

In the 1 day January Tournament:  Chechos went 18-15-11 on sails, Maverick 33-18-15 and Aguardiente 20-18-6.

The Ockenfels Group fishing 1 day on Maverick had 15 sailfish raises, 13 bites and 10 releases.

The Christie Group in 4 days fishing on Maverick, Sirena, Chechos and Danmark:

Maverick: 116 sailfish raises, 91 bites and 51 releases.

Sirena: 125 sailfish raises, 106 bites and 69 releases. 6 marlin raises, 4 bites and 4 releases.

Danmark: 104 sailfish raises, 89 bites and 46 releases.

Chechos: 104 sailfish raises, 89 bites and 46 releases. 2 marlin raises, 2 bites and 2 releases.

The Powers Group fishing 3 days on Maverick had 47 sailfish raises, 39 bites and 26 releases.

The Libertopolis Group fishing 1 day on Gypsy raised 25 sailfish, had 21 bites and released 14.

Our friends at Grundens did a documentary highlighting the work of Niels Erichsen, owner of Pacific Fins Resort and The Sailfish Commission in Guatemala. This video will include footage of Niels receiving the award in Ft. Lauderdale, interviews with Rob Kramer, president of the IGFA, members of The Sailfish Commission and vice ministers in Guatemala.

Additional footage will include fishing off the coast of Guatemala from Pacific Fins, the preeminent luxury sport fishing lodge in the region. The film will serve as an educational and inspirational piece about how this innovative conservation model can be spread to other countries in Central America to protect fish stocks and boost tourism.
