April / May – 2015

Guy Brown visited us for the 3rd year in a row. This was a very special trip because he brought his father Sam and a friend Mike McDaniel. Look at their 3 days fishing. Guy is also returning in The Fall to take advantage of our “Guaranteed Marlin Promo.”

May 2nd: 59 sailfish raises, 53 bites and 32 releases. Raised 1 Blue marlin.

May 3rd: 56 sailfish raises, 52 bites, 35 releases on light tackle and 3 on FLY!!
(Guy’s Dad Sam also landed his 1st sailfish on fly).

May 4th: 30 sailfish raises, 27 bites and 22 releases.

Totals: 145 sailfish raised, 132 bites and 89 releases + 3 on Fly.

James Patmore and Sean Cooper also visited Pacific Fins, May 1 – 3. In 3 days fishing they raised 107 sailfish, had 87 bites and released 56! They also landed 3 sailfish on FLY and 1 Blue marlin.

John and Jen Gianopulos arrived for 3 days fishing with their 6 year-old fishing son Benjamin. On Gypsy they raised 66 sailfish, had 47 bites and released 31.

Greg Wagner returned for the 3rd time. Joining him on this trip was his top-notch fishing guide from Canada, Jeff Traversy. Fishing 3 days on Maverick they raised 40 sailfish, had 30 bites and released 24. They also caught 4 dorado.

Bob Marcantel returned again to fish with us and joined by Marvin Lyons and Joel Fontenot.  Fishing 3 days on Gypsy they raised 57 sailfish, had 41 bites and released 28.

Francis Pandolphi, Davis Parr, Michael Adair and Robert Marshall arrived for 4 days fishing on Aguardiente.  They raised 65 sailfish, had 52 bites and released 28 conventional and 5 on fly.  They also caught 3 yellowfin tuna.

The guys from Alliance One fished 1 day on Allure and raised 45 sailfish, had 30 bites and released 18.  They also caught 2 dorado.

Two Father/Son teams arrived for 3 days fishing on Maverick.  Tim Williams/Tim Jr and Philip Canale/Philip Jr.  They raised 48 sailfish, had 44 bites and released 31.  They also caught 7 dorado and 3 yellowfin tuna.

A group of local clients fished on Mijo for 1 day and raised 30 sailfish, had 25 bites and released 14.  They also caught 2 dorado.

Richard Stuart, RP Stuart, Leon Thompson and Bryan Deweese arrived for 3 days fishing on Sirena.  They raised 35 sailfish, had 30 bites and released 22.  They also caught 6 dorado and raised 1 marlin.

Although every group did not get a marlin we did average 1.24 marlin RELEASED per group in March!

Pacific Fins, a Guatemala Resort & Marina, Pulls in Great Numbers for Billfish

March 2015 has been a superb month so far at Pacific Fins. They welcomed back many repeat clients in March 2015 and enjoyed the new faces and friendships made along the way.

Particularly, this month has been outstanding for marlin. Several clients walked away with their first marlin released. For their coveted sailfish, the raises, bites and releases have been stellar. Here are the numbers so far:

Monster Day (March 16)!

Big-time numbers by Aguardiente and Maverick today (March 16). McMurphy Group on Aguardiente – 62 sailfish raises, 57 bites and 40 releases!

Miller Group on Maverick – 59 sailfish raises, 53 bites and 41 releases!

March 2015 – Guatemala Fishing Report

Bo Whitehead’s group returned for the 4th time.  This time he was joined by his friend John Boon’s group.  Fishing on Maverick and Gypsy for 1 day they raised 39 sailfish, had 35 bites and released 26.  They also caught 2 dorado.

Joe Murphy arrived again to fish with us.  Joining Joe were Shaun Murphy, Ron Smith and Wendell Weakley.  Fishing on Maverick for 3 days they raised 104 sailfish, had 97 bites and released 76!  They also raised and released 1 Blue marlin.

Henry BuDai arrived for 3 days fly fishing on Aguardiente.  He raised 33 sailfish, had 14 bites and released 5 on fly.

The guys from Alliance One (Roland Kooper, Hilton Morgan, Dan King, Braxton Rascoe, Terry Lowery and Robert Rehberg) arrived for the 7th time.  On Allure fishing 1 day they raised 33 sailfish, had 23 bites, released 12 conventional and 1 on fly.  It was the first time for one of the clients and he caught his first sail conventional and then the one on fly!

Jamie Hollingsworth, Jason De Felice, Darrell Owensby and Brian Wilson arrived.  Fishing for 3 days on Sirena they raised 70 sailfish, had 52 bites and released 33.

David McMurphy, Kevin Moore, Zachary Sikorsi and Julien Cloutier arrived for 2 days fishing on Aguardiente.  They raised 79 sailfish, had 73 bites and released 53.

The Byrd Miller Family (Byrd III, Byrd IV, Eliza and Cate) arrived for the 5th time.  Fishing on Maverick for 3 days they raised 112 sailfish, had 101 bites and released 80!  They also raised 3 marlin, with 1 bite and released 1.  A few dorado to mix in as well.

The father/son team of Bill and Bill Buckley arrived for the 4th year in a row.  Fishing on Maverick for 3 days they raised 63 sailfish, had 52 bites and released 38.  They also raised 2 marlin, had 2 bites and released 2!

Doug McCuen and Mark Shaw arrived for the 3rd time to fish with us.  Fishing on Gypsy for 3 days they raised 56 sailfish, had 43 bites and released 31.  They also raised 3 marlin, had 1 bite and released 1 400 lbs!

The father/son duo of Jere Freeman III and Jere Freeman IV arrived for 3 days fishing on Aguardiente.  They raised 62 sailfish, had 47 bites, released 24 conventional and 2 on fly.

Stanislav Gorbounov, Ivanyutin Sergey and Vladimir Kuzmin arrived from Russia.  Fly Fishing for 4 days they raised 47 sailfish, had 22 bites and released 8 on fly.  They also raised 2 marlin, with 1 bite and released 1 on conventional gear.

Aggeo Ribiero, Nelson Noquiera and Andre Von Behtzen arrived from Brazil for the 3rd time.  This report is a different one for sure!  In 3 days fishing on Aguardiente they raised 10 sailfish, had 7 bites and released 4.  They also raised 5 marlin, had 4 bites and released 4 marlin!  3 Blues and 1 Black!  Also, some yellowfin tuna.

The Erichsen group fished 1 day on Maverick and raised 16 sailfish, had 15 bites and released 12.

The local clients fishing on Danmark for 1 day raised 12 sailfish, had 8 bites, and released 5.  They also raised 2 marlin, with 1 bite and released 1 Blue.

The guys from Georgia Pacific arrived for the 2nd year in a row.  Last year the group was 4 and in 2015 it grew to 11 anglers.  Tim Becker, Dwight Cook, Mike Tompkins, Kirk Stallsmith, Tim Covington, Tim Money, Mike Tuchalski, Wes Jones, Billy Greene, and Ray Abernathy.  Fishing on Gypsy, Maverick and Canaso 2 for 2 days they raised 70 sailfish, had 63 bites and 36 releases.  Several dorado. They also raised 5 marlin, had 2 bites and released 1 400 lbs!

TaxSlayer Continued…..

One client, Richard Marshall stayed an additional 2 days to fly fish on Gypsy. He raised 44 sailfish, had 22 bites and released 10 on FLY! He also raised 5 marlin, but could not get them to take the fly.

TaxSlayer Group #2 arrived a day later.  This group consisted of Charles Farrell, Aubrey Rhodes Jr, Aubrey Rhodes III, Daniel Rhodes, Chris Overton Bill Fletcher, Tommy Brumlow, and Jamie Slatton.   Fishing  2 days on Maverick, Gypsy and Mijo – they raised 141 sailfish, had 122 bites and released 91. They also raised 8 marlin, had 7 bites and released 4 Blues!!

All in all the owners of TaxSlayer got to witness as their key clients raised 303 sailfish, with 252 bites and 173 releases. With an added bonus of raising 13 marlin and releasing 4!  Numerous dorado and yellowfin tuna were also caught during the week.

How Do You Impress Key Clients?

The TaxSlayer group returned for the 7th time. This time they rented the entire Lodge for a week (Feb 26 – March 4) to entertain key clients and executives.

16 clients for the first part of the week. 8 new clients for the 2nd part.

TaxSlayer Group #1 fished 2 days on Gypsy, Maverick, Canaso 2 and Mijo. They raised 162 sailfish, had 130 bites and released 82.

One client, Richard Marshall stayed an additional 2 days to fly fish on Gypsy. He raised 44 sailfish, had 22 bites and released 10 on FLY! He also raised 5 marlin, but could not get them to take the fly.

TaxSlayer Group #2 arrived a day later and fished 2 days on Maverick, Gypsy and Mijo. They raised 141 sailfish, had 122 bites and released 91. They also raised 8 marlin, had 7 bites and released 4 Blues!!

All in all the owners of TaxSlayer got to witness as their key clients raised 303 sailfish, with 252 bites and 173 releases. With an added bonus of raising 13 marlin and releasing 4!  Numerous dorado and yellowfin tuna were also caught during the week.
